The Ireland-Israel match must not go ahead - not here, not anywhere. The point of this action is to send a message to Israel and the international sporting community that genocide will not be tolerated or normalised. Moving the fixture abroad is just turning a blind eye and prevents the Irish people from expressing their right to protest. The majority of the Irish public is supportive of the boycott. Fans, players and unions are all against the match going ahead. Some 93% of FAI members voted for Israel's suspension. UEFA ignored this and is now standing over an inexcusable double standard having banned Russia in 2022. There is no justification for our playing the terrorist state. Precedent exists. Ireland boycotted the 1936 Olympics due to partitionist rules being imposed on us. The Government opposed the IRFU's tour of South Africa in 1981. Yet now it is happy to accept apartheid and genocide. We have an obligation under international law to oppose any engagement with occupation. The ICJ ruling provides a legal injunction on top of the moral one we hold as human beings bearing witness to the mass slaughter of Palestinians livestreamed before our very eyes. Under no circumstances should our flag be flown alongside the Israeli flag, or its national anthem sung with our "Amhrán na bhFiann". The green jersey has to mean more than this.
