Over the weekend, the Tánaiste stated that the Government is exploring one-off payments towards environmentally-friendly measures such as heat pumps and efficient cars. I welcome that the Government is looking at how it can support householders more. My worry is by floating for potential of new grants without a timeline, there is some risk people will defer big decisions on new EVs or heat pumps until there is clarity. One comment on my social media was as follows: "Yep, we were about to pull the trigger on a heat pump; now not sure if we should wait or not". I also asked the Taoiseach about this matter during Questions on Policy and Legislation yesterday but I was not much clearer about it afterwards. There is confusion out there. Will the Tánaiste give as much clarity as he can right now? Is a scheme for more financial support for heat pumps and EVs on the way imminently? Will the Tánaiste give us as close to a "Yes" or "No" answer on that because there are people waiting on that clarity in terms of big investment decisions they make in their own households?
