I want to bring the Taoiseach back once again to that cohort of workers who kept the health service going at our moment of deepest crisis in recent years. I refer to housekeeping staff, porters, nurses, healthcare assistants and other clinicians, some of whom contracted Covid at the height of the pandemic and went on to develop a debilitating condition known as long Covid. A small group of those workers was in receipt of special Covid leave with pay until 31 December. They were receiving that payment on the basis that they contracted the virus in high-risk settings and have been unable to return to work since due to disabling post-exertional malaise and a range of other symptoms. That scheme was cut because the Labour Court ruled in June of last year that it could not recommend further extensions until long Covid was classified by Government as an occupational injury for this cohort. The Taoiseach met a group of these workers in Cork around the time of the Labour Court decision. Would he meet them again to hear how they have been impacted by the termination of their special Covid leave with pay?
