The European Union launched, in December, a groundbreaking affordable housing plan with revised state aid rules and new approaches to delivering affordable housing. Will the Taoiseach put affordable housing central on the agenda of the European Union Presidency that Ireland will hold? Will he take action to ensure Ireland draws down funding that is available through the European Union and new approaches? Does he accept that the Irish Government and governments across the European Union have failed a generation of young people who cannot afford the rents and cannot afford the house prices? We have new apartments being built in Dublin. The rent for a two-bedroom apartment is €3,150. Does the Taoiseach accept that it is not migrants who can be blamed for the housing crisis but it is the failure of governments across the European Union? Does the Taoiseach accept that Ireland has to take responsibility and should put affordable housing central to the European Union Presidency?
